I don't own a Christmas quilt but....
If I did own a Christmas quilt, it would look a lot like the placemat above. Lol.
A few mornings ago I took the photos for this post, in part I was thinking how I don't have a Christmas quilt, although I have made several for beloveds. And that I truly love these mats, made from what Katie Pederson calls Magic Numbers sewing. I still have 2.5, 4.5, and 6.5" squares in my Christmas Fabrics bag, and maybe one of these days I'll sew up more placemats, as I only made four when I fashioned these. They won't have bindings, but the layout makes me HAPPY!
And small projects are easy finishes, 'nuff said.
I wonder if my chickens think of their egg-laying as easy finishes, LOL! One laid an egg in the dustbathing box yesterday; DUDE! That's not cool, chicken. We think it's a Welsummer egg, from the hue and slight speckling, and if that is true, I'd guess Cami laid her first egg because Cami LOVES dustbathing. But I am very sorry, Miss Cami Chicken; eggs are to be laid in NESTING BOXES, 'nuff said.

They found SO MANY goodies, haha!
I spent some time this afternoon outside with the hens, as we were going to meet up with friends, during which the chickens would be in their coop. While hanging out with my chickies, I considered that next week it's supposed to rain and rain and rain, which means the chickens will either be in the run in the rain if they so desire, or more rightly hanging out in the coop, staying dry. I certainty won't be wandering after them in the rain, because 1) That's not my bag and 2) I have a quilt to sew. Not a Magic Numbers quilt, but a layer cake quilt, hehehe. Though I might retrieve those appropriately cut Christmas fabric squares and stitch up a new placemat or two.

Coaster made with 2.5" squares.
Or at least a coaster; happy Christmas to me! Because I don't need an entire quilt formed from holiday prints. Just a placemat or two (Or three, who's counting?) I think my chickens would back me up, it's like I can hear them now: Cluck (make a coaster), cluck (make a placemat), cluck (feed us treats). I did give them a small bowl of scratch after their roaming; it is Christmastime after all. Maybe chicken scratch doesn't align to Advent, which is about waiting, but they're chickens!

Not a chicken, merely a coaster.
They're chickens, I'm a quilter, and maybe a writer too. This afternoon my friend asked about a story idea I mentioned months ago. About dragons. That my eldest granddaughter asked me to write, um, years ago. A couple of years, but to her, that's a major chunk of her life. And this doesn't have anything to do with Christmas quilts, but hey, sometimes my train of thought is about as long as a chicken's. New shiny, SURE! Books, quilts, WHATEVER! Time to wrap this up, Warriors are on soon, still an hour left of this evening to sew something pretty. Make something fun. Craft a little piece of beauty and wrap it up with LOVE.

(Cluck, cluck, says Owl.)
That's what Owl Chicken would say, if she could talk. Cluck (make something pretty), cluck (craft some beauty), cluck (Feed me a treat!) Cluck, cluck, cluck indeed!
