The need for texture
Skies, fabrics, etc....
My right shoulder is BETTER! It's not to the point where I'm hand sewing like previously, but it doesn't hurt when I do hand stitch. Every other night. For about an hour. Which is approximately a quarter of the time I used to hand sew, but I'll take it. Very slowly beats not at all, and as I have several EPP projects, not to mention Kawandi, I wish to complete, hand sewing will truly exemplify SLOW STITCHING on a grand scale.
Lol.
A few days ago, while figuring out the next round of my Peace Around the World quilt, I played with some fun squares, turning an extra swan into the center of yet another coaster. I have So. Many. Coasters! Yet I love the brevity, experimenting with different fabrics, as well as adding a layer of Insulbrite to make them more heat-resistant. It kinda works, but it's not perfect. Guess I'll need to try it again, hahahah.
What I DID LOVE were how woven fabrics worked amid regular cotton prints. I love how green meshes with raspberry tones. I adore using a couple of woven prints because I have plenty of it, and maybe I'll use them in a regular quilt top. If I make something with wovens and my machine, you best believe it's going to be the front of a quilt.
This morning when I went to feed the hens, the sky was particularity gorgeous; blue to the west, hints of blue in the east. We had maybe a tenth of an inch of rain late yesterday afternoon, perhaps a tad bit more today, but the sky wasn't a flat gray like usual. Clouds of varying shades shook up the horizon, and while I'd love more blue, just to see the texture was amazing.
Currently it's raining, lol, no texture to share other than this little coaster, which waits by my placemat at our table. I'm so eager to add the swans and assorted prints for that round of the medallion quilt, but again I have to go SLOWLY. I'm learning more patience, which will serve me well as time goes along. Because if I live as long as Sonny Rollins did, I have over thirty more years to do whatever needs to be done.
So we ran errands, had lunch, and now I'm completing this post. The sun has come out, making me extremely pleased, as well as Gigi Chicken NOT in a nesting box this morning! She's actually out with her sisters today, WHEW! I just checked for eggs, finding two on the shelf, while several hens were using the front yard for their dustbathing, ahem. I counted six, but that left two astray, one being a barnevelder. Where could those two be???
Upon hunting, I located them near the house, under a camellia bush! Owl is the Welsummer, not exactly certain who the barnevelder is. I wish I could tell from faraway with that breed, but often I can't. If nothing else, those two plus the six on the lawn add up to eight, mystery solved.

One of the Triplets behind Owl; perhaps it's Ruthie?
