On a foggy June morning....

Image
From a few days ago before I did too much hand-sewing and angered my right shoulder. Our granddaugthers are here for the week, and we've already enjoyed some marvelous summer weather. This morning is a June Gloom extravaganza, lol, but in a few hours that marine layer will lift, the sun heading high into the near-solstice sky. Currently it's myself and chirping birds, fog beginning to rise upward, a few cups of black half-caff tea ingested. I've not written much about giving up almond/oat milk in tea, but after the last week to ten days, I've managed what I never thought possible. And maybe that sums up our lives, going about this and that, wishing for a dream to become reality or to shed that which hinders, then a week to ten days pass, a few months perhaps, and there we are in that long-considered yet didn't think we could achieve life. Huh. Pretty weird. But good! Why did I give up a milk-substitute in my tea (but not my coffee, lol)? Because when I visited my da...

What DID I do today???

From summer 2023. I'm not worried about my nation and Israel attacking Iran. Which is weird but good, in the weird but good category. Yet I spent far more time than usual on my computer reading articles and Wiki pages about the unauthorized bombing, at least America's Congress didn't approve it. I didn't get much sewing done, or any truthfully. I did trash a lot of old photos off my phone, like Cornflower Quilt blocks from three years ago and landscape shots that I don't truly need and videos of deer locking horns, battling for supremacy. Is that what's happening in the Middle East, just some bucks, not young certainly, butting heads trying to prove who has bragging rights in the forest? I don't even know!  I did do my back stretches, including the clamshells and leg lifts! Did four loads of laundry, ahem. Helped one chicken find her sisters. The other crying hen walked away despite sisters arriving, whatever! I found the beautiful photo at the top of this ...

Weird but good; so begins 2026

Title from something my husband found weird but good this morning, lol. I have no idea what he referred to; this morning feels like 2023, in that I spent much of the morning seated just outside the coop, sifting wood ash for the dustbathing box, and wrote this post mid-afternoon, and now it's evening as it's uploaded. Anyway, those chickens were digging and scratching nearby as I sang along to Kate Bush's Aerial album, side one, or however it's delineated. The side with "King of the Mountain" and "Pi" and "Mrs. Bartolozzi". Actually I listened to that side about four times because the music player on my phone doesn't stop at an LPs end. Which was great today because it took me over ninety minutes to shovel poo, sift through ash, add ash and sand and dirt and rice hulls to the dustbox as chickens hung out, some resting on the straw-littered concrete as if it was part of their coop. Maybe they think it is: Weird but good. I think Weird bu...
